My MIL Tried on My Wedding Dress and Ruined It — She Refused to Pay for It, So I Used My Secret Weapon

My future mother-in-law, Janet, kept pestering me about my wedding dress but refused to accompany me shopping. After finding the perfect $3,000 gown, I told her about it, but she insisted on seeing it in person. I refused, fearing damage to the dress. A few weeks later, I came home to find my dress missing, only for Mark to admit he took it to Janet’s. When I saw the dress, it was ruined — lace torn, zipper broken, and fabric stretched. Janet laughed it off when I confronted her, offering a cheap fix instead of paying for a replacement.
Two days later, Mark’s sister, Rachel, showed me photos of Janet trying on my dress, straining it with her body. Rachel suggested I use these photos to force Janet to pay for the damage.
Armed with the photos, I threatened to expose her unless she paid the $3,000. Janet was furious, and when I posted the photos on Facebook, she demanded I take them down. I refused and, instead, called off the wedding. I placed my engagement ring on the table and asked both Janet and Mark to leave, realizing I deserved better than both of them.
